BeeWalk Surveyor, North Coast

We’re looking for volunteers across the North Coast to help us learn more about our local bees.

BeeWalk is a national recording scheme run by Bumblebee Conservation Trust to monitor the abundance of bumblebees on transects across the country. We’re looking for BeeWalkers to survey established routes at Polin (near Kinlochbervie), Durness, Tongue, Thurso riverside and Dunnet Community Forest.

If you’re keen to help but would prefer a route elsewhere then we’d be happy to help you set up a new route.

The details

  • You’ll need to spend two hours once a month from March to October surveying bees along an established route (either a pre-existing route or a new route that we can help you set up).
  • You need to have your own transport, be able to walk up to two kilometres at a slow pace and be confident working alone.
  • We’ll provide all the training you need as well as ongoing support.
