In 2025 we commissioned artists Sinéad Hargan and Laura O’Kane to produce a ‘creative evaluation’ of our work for the tiny but mighty small blue butterfly on the north coast of Scotland.
Across spring and summer, Sinéad and Laura spent time with our volunteers, reflecting on their motivations to care for and preserve this special butterfly.
This film is comprised of interviews with local volunteers, field recordings taken at Castlehill and Dunnet, and images and paintings created through reflective mark-making sessions with the Small Blue Task Force at UHI Thurso and Species on the Edge volunteers at Dunnet Forest.
