School visits and surveying: how Su helps nature her way

Su Edwards lives on the north coast of Scotland and is a retired school teacher. She enjoys being out in nature and has experience surveying with the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO). Since learning about Species on the Edge, she has come on board as a volunteer, going into local primary schools to teach the children about their local wildlife (in particular the glittery small blue butterfly) and surveying oysterplant, the small blue, and the plantain leaf beetle.

She tells us why these are her ways of helping nature – applying her experience, skills and interests in a way that fits in with her life and schedule.

Nature needs our help. Whatever your skills, interests, your ability, and however busy your daily life is, there will be a way that you can make a difference.
