Small Blue Conference, Inverness + Ballchraggan, 15 May
We are delighted to be hosting a free conference celebrating the fantastic work of our many, brilliant Small Blue volunteers, and we’d like YOU to join us!

What to expect
We’re excited to be joined by Small Blue expert, Mike Slater, who will be giving a talk followed by a Q&A session. We’ll also be hearing from some of the Species on the Edge team as well as Geoff Ballinger, chair of Butterfly Conservation’s East Scotland branch.
In the afternoon, we’ll be heading out to Ballchraggan Wood where we have been working closely with Balnagown Estate to help protect Dingy Skipper and Small Blue butterflies. This outstanding site produced a record number of Small Blue adults one afternoon in May last year, with over 500 being counted in 90 mins by the local transect walker. Hopefully there will be some Small Blue to spot during our visit!
The conference will be an excellent opportunity to learn more about this special butterfly and about local efforts to conserve it. It will also be a chance to discuss with others in your area what the future of Small Blue conservation looks like on the north-east coast of Scotland.
Book your space!
Spaces at the conference are limited, so if you’re interested in joining us for the day, please email Tracy by 27th of April (or sooner – you don’t want to miss out!): tmunro@butterfly-conservation.org.
